Dressing Up Baja

Part of the thrills that the approach of a much-awaited vacation brings is the part when you choose and shop for vacation-worthy items of clothing, shoes, jewelry, bags and other fashion accessories that you will bring and wear during the length of your travels and vacation. For me in fact, that is precisely the best part of preparing for a vacation, those few days or weeks of browsing through boutique after boutique in search of that perfect coat to wear in Europe or that bikini to use at the Caribbean.
However, it can be quite difficult to shop for a vacation wardrobe to be worn on summer if it is at the height of winter and vice versa. That is exactly what I was worrying about just a couple of months ago. My married friend invited me to stay three weeks at their newly built vacation home in San Jose del Cabo, Baja California and I was extremely excited to go since I have heard they had such beautiful white sand beaches and fun nightclubs in San Jose del Cabo, Los Cabos.
We were planning to go at the end of March when the weather is already very warm and fresh since the turn towards spring is already far underway. However, that left me with less than a month to go look for Baja-worthy beach wear and spring clothing at a time when winter wear is all over the shops and the weather outside is frigidly depressing.
Although the fur coats and leather boots in the stores of Los Angeles were so beautiful and attractive, I had to keep focus and continue looking for summer dresses, swim suits, sunglasses, flip flops and sun hats. And since summer is a couple of months away still, I had a hard time finding these items and there was also very few choices offered by boutiques and stores.
Thankfully, my best friend who I was venting out my frustration and complaints suggested I look through the Internet for spring-summer clothes, shoes and accessories that I wanted to bring to Baja California. And until that time, it never even crossed my mind that that would be the most convenient and practical kind of shopping to do.
And so, by the time we were all set for tourist town of Cabo San Lucas in the beautiful peninsula of Baja California, I had a trunk full of cotton shorts, pastel sleeveless blouses, flowy summer dresses, a couple of over sized sunglasses, a straw sun hat, some flip flops, new sandals, three gorgeous new swim suits, a couple of new hair bobbles and some bracelets and necklaces.
Although I found some of these at the local clothing stores in LA and others I already have in my closet, most of them I found for bargain prices at online clothing sites. And when it comes to packaging and mailing price, you can actually make the most of your money if you buy more items at a time through one particular clothing site. And since most of the online shops I went through had their headquarters in the US, the length of time for me to get the things I bought online was rather fast.
And so, I was able to enjoy a three week Baja California vacation donning some new and up-to-date clothing and fashion accessories. And who knows, I heard Baja California, Mexico has some great markets, bazaars and bargain shops so maybe I can also shop their during my visit.
