Here's another split window Baja Bus, a 63 this time, this was sent to me from Chris in California.  The bus is called Brunie, short for Brunhilde and this photos about six years old after she was freshly painted.  She's a double door camper, which is why those from Australia (like me) and those from the UK would feel right a home with this picture.  As you can see the rear wheel arches have been cut along with the front torsion housing which was then reinforced with part of a bug torsion housing before it was turned to get the lift which was originally about 3" but has sinced sagged to about 2".  The engine is a 1600 with a 1970 transaxle with 67 swing axles As it's a daily driver progress is slow (Don't I know it) but she's due to get a recently completed tubular front bumper and eventually twin shock mounts all round.

Brunie the Baja Bus

Here she is even earlier on, about 13 years ago, being used for her intended purpose, geting away from it all at Glamis, the sand toy capital of the world, or so they say.  This shot gives a good idea of the lift and shows that Baja Buses really don't have problems with sand as long as you stay away from the real soft stuff, although Chris did mention that he tried a dune and promptly sunk.  The front tires are 215/75/15 and the rears are 30x9.5 on a 15" Jackman Star wheel with what he thinks is a standard bug offset.  With the trailer on the back towing the ATC's she's slowing geting to the sand but Hey it certainly looks like it's worth the effort.  Anyway after checking out my Wild VW's site Chris is contemplating an engine swap to help resolve that little issue.  All up a very tidy and practical Bus.

These next two pictures were from the 50th Anniversary of the Kombi and were sent to my by Steve Overmyer, thanks Steve.

I don't know much about htis Bus except that it's running a P76 V8 engine (4.4lt hence the number plate)  I've seen it around before but never managed to get it on film.  Anyway as you can see it's got a major lift and what looks like 33inch or 35inch tires on the rear with 31inch or 30inch on the front, although I'm guessing here.

V8 Baja

This next Bus was also at the show and again I know little about it except it's got a radiator on the front so it's not aircooled anymore.  It actually looks a fair bit like mine and may be running 235/75/15'S all round.... Again I'm guessing, maybe someone will see it here (and the one above) and give me some more details.
