The Bisbee Fishing Tournament
The Bisbee Fishing Tournament
Calling the attention of all fishermen! This is your chance to get your hands on the grand prize worth a million dollars doing what you love the most—fishing.
Baja, particularly, Los Cabos, is chosen to be part of the world-famous Bisbee’s Black and Blue Tournament. Seeing that Los Cabos is known for its diverse marine life, it is no wonder why Bisbee’s recently picked out Los Cabos to be the host of the Bisbee Tournament.
In case you are not that familiar with the rules of the Bisbee Fishing Tournament, don’t worry. You do not have to be a rock scientist to figure it all out. In fact, the rules are pretty basic.
First, you have to register your team. A team should have a captain, an angler, and crew. All participants should have a valid Mexican Fishing License, which is to be presented upon registration. Once registered, you (or whoever the team’s captain is) are required to attend the Captain’s Meetings where you will be briefed regarding the tournament’s rules.
When it comes to the actual tournament, to keep it short, participating teams are given enough time, usually three days, to fish within the specified area. All fishes caught within the given time will be weighed and the team who catches the heaviest will be awarded.
There are various awards presented to top-performers in the Bisbee Fishing Tournament. There is the award presented to the team who catches the heaviest Dorado, the award being aptly called Top Dorado. Then, there is the Top Tuna which is given to the team who catches the heaviest tuna. The top three teams who are able to catch the heaviest black or blue marlin will get the Tournament Award. Besides the awards, the winning teams are entitled to receive cash prizes which are certainly worth their while.
The Bisbee’s Black and Blue Tournament is now annually holding a contest in Los Cabos. If you happen to be around Los Cabos during the months of October, you may as well get yourself a team and sign up for the tournament. Make your stay in Baja even more memorable. Fishing is fun, but winning in a fishing competition is more so, especially if the overall prize is amounting to millions of dollars.
